AFTER SCHOOL CLUBS

Here at Birdwell Primary School we offer children the opportunity to join after school clubs which run shortly after school has finished at 3.30 p.m. Any children wishing to join any of these clubs are most welcome. Further information about clubs being run and how to join can be found below.

Film Club

Our Film Club will be starting again later in this term. Please observe the website for updates regarding when it will run and at what time.

 

Karate Club

Karate Club is run by Mr Hussain who is a registered Instructor/Examiner. The club is run every Thursday after school between 3.45 p.m. and 4.45 p.m. Children can wear P.E. kit to start with and if they enjoy it they can purchase a karate suit. Anyone from 4 to 100 years old is welcome and no prior expreience is needed. The karate is based on Tang-Soo-Do and Kung-Foo martial arts of self defense. It is a good activity for both physical fitness and developing the mind. Regular attendance is preferred by members or they will get left behind on some of the training. As children develop their skills they will be tested for grades and belts. Anyone wishing to obtain further information about the club should contact Mr Hussain in school.

 

Choir

Choir is run by Mrs Atkinson and meets every Monday afternoon between 3.30p.m. and 4.45p.m. All children are welcome to join, as our philosophy is 'Every Voice Matters.' The cost for each session the children attend is £1.50. This is to pay for CD's, Teeshirts, Travel Expenses to venues attended and Music etc. Some of the venues that our choir has sung at are Barnsley Town Hall, Sheffield Arena and Wombwell Operatics Centre.

 

Football Training

Football training is run by Gary who is a qualified football coach. It runs all through the football season every Tuesday evening between 3.30 pm to 4.30 pm. Football competitions are entered and is open to all children from year one to year six with an interest in playing football. The cost of the training is £1.50 every training day. Anyone interested in joining the training should turn up for training wearing full kit including shorts/jogging trousers, teeshirt/jogging top, trainers and shin pads MUST always be worn.

 

Street Dance

Street Dance takes place on Friday after school from 3.30 pm to 4.30 pm. Children will be taught lots of new moves in a fun way by a qualified dance teacher. Street Dance help children to keep fit in a fun way and also helps improve coordination. Appropriate clothing should be worn, this could be dance outfits, pe kits or loose casual clothing.
